Sometimes an email you receive has its attachment included as text. WinCode allows you to separate the gobbledygook from the message and convert it back to an attachment again. |
In your email program, open the message which was supposed to have had the attachment. Select all the text (Ctrl and A), not just the code. Copy it to the clipboard by pressing Ctrl and C or (usually) by going to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and selecting Copy. |
If you have not already started WinCode, do so now: |
Click on the Decode a data file button (second from the left). |
In the File to Decode dialogue box, make sure that Auto-1 is selected in the Code Type: box. Now all you have to do is click on Clipboard >>, which converts the email text into the intended file automatically. |
If an error message appears, saying 'Illegal DOS Name', rename the file so it has less than 9 characters before the .xxx file extension. |
The attachment should now be waiting in its proper format in the folder specified when you installed WinCode (see the sheet Installing and Configuring WinCode). |
