Here are some handy hints and tips on software when
dealing with TransAction, with foreign languages or in general.
Language support for Windows
Sometimes you may not be able to read a file using your
word processor because it uses a non-Western European alphabet.
Windows users can configure their operating system to do so by reading
our guide [PDF].
View TIFF files
Despite improved support for different alphabets, it is sometimes useful to use documents which are
graphic files, as opposed to word
processor files. If you don't have a graphics package installed on
your machine, take a look at our guide on viewing TIFF files
for Windows [PDF].
WinZip and StuffIt
Most of our work is done in digital format. Therefore large or multiple files we send
and receive are usually in a compressed format, mostly done with WinZip.
You can download an evaluation copy from
the WinZip site by
clicking on the graphic. You can also read our guides on installing
[PDF],
compressing
[PDF]
and extracting
[PDF]
with WinZip.
If you use an Apple Mac we recommend using StuffIt
to do the same.
Acrobat Reader
Acrobat
Reader from Adobe
provides an alternative way of reading documents. It allows you to
view the final texts without the complications involved in converting
between word processor formats and operating systems.
WinCode
Sometimes an email attachment does not arrive as it should. It
has been encoded en route but has failed to decode properly by the time it
arrives on your hard drive. You can decode it using WinCode for the
PC.
This can be downloaded from us (wc273r16.zip
999KB) as freeware, as the writers Snappy
Software no longer exist. We have written basic guides to help you
install
[PDF]
and run
[PDF]
it.
Word viewer
If you use Windows but do not have Office, you can
use the viewer and open any document created in Word.
Download the viewer for Windows 9.x/2000/NT/XP (Instal95.exe
3.76 MB).
Download the viewer for Windows 3.x (View973x.zip
2.19 MB).
